WASHINGTON (AP) — The Dwelling panel investigating the riot at the U.S. Capitol issued sweeping doc requests on Friday to social media firms, expanding the scope of its investigation as it seeks to analyze the events top to the Jan. 6 insurrection.

The requests were issued to technological innovation giants, which includes Google, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and TikTok, and also to Reddit, Parler, Telegram, 4chan, 8kun and other platforms.

The committee asked 15 firms to deliver copies of any evaluations, research, reviews or examination about misinformation related to the 2020 election, overseas affect in the election, endeavours to cease the election certification and “domestic violent extremists” associated with endeavours to overturn the 2020 election, which includes the assault on the Capitol.

“We have acquired the request and glimpse forward to continuing to operate with the committee,” Facebook said in an emailed assertion.

Google, which owns YouTube, also confirmed receipt of the letter and reported it would function with Congress. “The events of January 6 were unparalleled and tragic, and Google and YouTube strongly condemn them. Twitter declined comment about the doc ask for.
